Abstract
A new version of the well-known double-inclusion model of Hori and Nemat-Nasser [Mech. Mater. 14 (1993) 189] is proposed in this work. First, the original model is reformulated in a general way dealing directly with multiphase composites. As in the case of two-phase composites, it is shown that the double-inclusion model includes as special cases some of the previously existing models. Finally, a new solution of the model is proposed that represents more closely the interactions in the material.
