Abstract
⺠I estimate the effect of providing informal adult care on employment in Europe. ⺠I try to account for both time variant and time invariant unobserved heterogeneity. ⺠A large negative effect is found when I use instruments for informal care. ⺠The result is not robust once account is taken of individual time-invariant effects. ⺠The effect of providing unpaid care on employment is found to be negative but small.
