Abstract
⺠A link between Social Choice Theory and Operations Research is established. ⺠The committee selection process under cardinality and budget restriction is investigated. ⺠Characterizations of ranking sets of objects are provided. ⺠Efficient algorithms for the actual computation of optimal committees are developed.
