Abstract
Physicians who have to work in tropical countries need frequently a minimal training for laboratory methods. This short training must be adapted to necessity and available methods on field as well. It must include basic haematological methods, direct examination in bacteriology and parasitology, with a special support on malaria diagnosis. Packaging and mailing of biological samples in adequate security conditions towards a reference laboratory are important aims of this training. In some cases, physicians may be trained for diagnosis of the first cases of meningococcal meningitis or cholera outbreaks. This short training must be proceeded with pedagogic documentation and CD Rom appear to be the most convenient materials.
