Abstract
Associating a file of digitalized pictures to a standardized cancer case summary is a big improvement in the pathological management of surgical pathology specimens in digestive oncology (especially colorectal cancer specimens). The creation of national standardized case summaries for different cancers is in process in France. Digitalized pictures increase notably the quality of the pathologist's work, due to their objectivity and the easiness of their use. Integrated to the patient medical file, they become an objective visual reference of the tumor for all participating doctors. In association to standardized cancer case summaries they represent a new tool for exhaustive epidemiological studies in oncology.
