Abstract
Synthesis of spinel LiNi1/2Mn3/2O4 powders was attempted for the first time via an ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method with different pH condition. After pyrolysis, the as-prepared particles with pH 7 condition have a dense spherical morphology without aggregation. The LiNi1/2Mn3/2O4 powders were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM), and electrochemical testing. High crystalline LiNi1/2Mn3/2O4 was synthesized over 900 °C showing well-developed octahedron particle shape. The discharge capacity of the synthesized material was delivered over 135 mA h gâ1 between 3.5 and 5.0 V with high capacity retention of over 99% during 40 cycles. Consequently, it could be seen that the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis is effective synthetic method for 5 V spinel cathode materials.
