Abstract
Highly active magnesium (Rieke magnesium) reacts with fluorohalo-methanes at â100 °C forming the corresponding fluorohalomethyl-magnesium halides, which undergo nucleophilic substitution with silyl halides or nucleophilic addition with aldehydes or ketones.
