Abstract
I review the recent work in collaboration with Senthil [Phys. Rev. Lett. 97 (2006) 067202] on the low temperature phases of S=1S=1 kagome lattice antiferromagnets in which there is sufficiently strongly single-ion anisotropy D that dominates over the antiferromagnetic exchange J. Earlier results (in collaboration with Heidarian [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95 (2005) 127206]) that are relevant for the low temperature physics of similar systems on the triangular lattice are also described briefly.
