Abstract

In this paper, the lattice gas model for pedestrian flow is extended to large maximum velocity vmax>1vmax>1. It is shown that at large vmaxvmax, the critical density corresponding to the maximum flow rate of fundamental diagram is in good agreement with empirical results. The counter flow is studied and it is found that with the increase of vmaxvmax, the jam transition threshold decreases. This is explained by the attachment rate to jam and detachment rate from jam. The fundamental diagram of mixed pedestrian flow is also investigated and the dependence of the flow rate on the ratio of fast pedestrians is simulated. Finally, the counter flow of mixed pedestrians is studied and it is found the more homogeneous the mixed pedestrians are distributed, the smaller the jam transition threshold is.
