Abstract
Proton-exchanged optical waveguides in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 were obtained by different technology conditions. The phase composition was analyzed by infrared absorption spectroscopy and mode spectroscopy. In addition, infrared reflection spectra were registered in order to confirm the phase composition as well as to give some indications about the distribution of the different phases inside of the proton-exchanged layers. The results presented could contribute to the obtaining of waveguides with control of their phase composition and therefore of their optical and electrooptical properties.
