Abstract
By introducing an equivalent grating period, the influences of environmental index on the tuning ability and tunable sensitivity of long-period fiber gratings are analyzed and explained in this paper. Widely tunable performance is demonstrated by coating the long-period fiber gratings with acrylate-based interpolymers. Approximate 60 nm wavelength tuning range and 1 nm/°C thermal tunable sensitivity are implemented with the change of temperature from 15 to 70 °C.
