Abstract
An alternative approach to the relationship between the radiometry and the optical spatial coherence is proposed. It is based on the concepts of classes of radiator pairs and the marginal power spectrum, recently introduced in the framework of the Wigner optics. Indeed, we express the generalised radiance, the generalised radiant emittance and the generalised radiant intensity in terms of them. We analyse the extreme cases of spatially coherent and incoherent sources and suggest an alternative physical interpretation for the negative values of the generalised radiance.
