Abstract
A tunable double-clad Er:Yb doped fiber laser is realized and characterized. The fiber is side-pumped with two counter-propagating laser diodes. A unidirectional ring cavity is used and all elements are mounted with optical connectors. The laser delivers up to 1.1 W in a 28-nm spectral range around 1550 nm. The spectral linewidth is about 0.7 nm within the whole spectral range for all pumping powers.
