Abstract
Using high-intensity (up to 500 GW/cm2) 264 nm laser radiation, we fabricated long-period fiber gratings (LPFGs) in standard telecom and photosensitive fibers and compared the inscription efficiency with that for other existing methods of recording. We studied the temperature sensing properties of the fabricated gratings. We demonstrated the effect of thermal recovery of a LPFG resonance peak, which could be used for a fine adjustment of its transmission loss value and wavelength position.
