Abstract
The effect of excess-quantum noise revealed from non-orthogonality properties of longitudinal modes in the one-dimensional photonic crystal laser is considered. A semi-analytical expression for the longitudinal excess-noise factor is obtained. Numerical results show that the effect of excess-quantum noise declines for higher contrast of refraction modulation in one-dimensional photonic crystal laser cavity.
