Abstract
Creep properties of IMI834 melts containing varying levels of Fe and Ni, have been investigated in different microstructural conditions. Equiaxed α + β microstructures exhibit inferior creep properties as compared to that of transformed β microstructure. For similar microstructures, increasing levels of Fe and Ni in the alloy results in degradation of the creep resistance. Based on the results, possible mechanisms for high-temperature deformation are proposed and the influence of Fe and Ni is discussed in relation to the proposed mechanisms and the information available in literature.
