Abstract
Wear resistant Coss/Co3Mo2Si metal silicide alloys with a dual-phase microstructure consisting of Co3Mo2Si primary dendrite and small amount of interdendritic ductile Co-base solid solution (Coss) were designed and fabricated by the laser melting/deposition process. Microstructure of the alloys was characterized by optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). High-temperature sliding wear properties of the Coss/Co3Mo2Si alloys were evaluated at 600 °C. Results indicate that the Coss-toughened Co3Mo2Si ternary metal silicide alloys have excellent wear resistance under high-temperature sliding wear test conditions. Co content has a remarkable influence on microstructure, hardness and wear resistance of the Coss/Co3Mo2Si metal silicide alloys.
