Abstract
The Zn-rich corner of the Zn-Fe-Ni ternary system at 560 °C was experimentally studied. The existence of a true ternary phase, the T phase, was confirmed. The composition ranges of all intermetallic phases in the system were determined. Complementary to other studies that had focused on isothermal sections relevant to the normal galvanizing temperatures at about 450 °C, the present study provided data points at a higher temperature. Such supplemental data points would be very useful for the critical assessment of the Zn-Fe-Ni ternary system.
