Abstract
Microstructure changes in the Fe-(20-40) wt.% Mn alloys heat treated at 600-1200 °C for a long time have been studied by the methods of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and measurement of hardness. A phase separation of the solid solution has been demonstrated to take place at the temperatures studied. We can conclude that the region of the solid solution in the Fe-Mn diagram, as in some other diagrams, is in reality a region of phase separation.
