Abstract
The heavy metal fluoride glasses based on InF3 and doped with 2Â mol% of ErF3 were obtained as amorphous material. In order to obtain glass-ceramics, as-melted samples were annealed at various temperatures and times. The changes of the erbium spectroscopic properties in the multicomponent fluoride system are discussed as a function of thermal treatment. The multi-step mechanism of crystallization has been analyzed by spectroscopic analysis and compared with the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) data.
