Abstract
Ce0.6Tb0.4MgAl11O19 (CTMA) phosphor particles were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The effect of boric acid flux on the crystallinity, morphology and photoluminescence characteristics of CTMA phosphor particles prepared by spray pyrolysis was investigated. The CTMA phosphor particles prepared from spray solution containing boric acid flux had higher photoluminescence intensity than that of the phosphor particles prepared from spray solution without flux material. The maximum photoluminescence intensity of the phosphor particles prepared from spray solution containing boric acid flux was 147% of that of the phosphor particles prepared from spray solution without flux material. The CTMA phosphor particles prepared from spray solution with high content of boric acid had regular and plate-like morphology with high thickness. The addition of boric acid flux into spray solution improved the phase purity of the CTMA phosphor particles prepared by spray pyrolysis. The high photoluminescence intensities of CTMA phosphor prepared by spray pyrolysis from spray solution with boric acid flux resulted from the phase purity and high crystallinity of phosphor particles.
