Abstract
Amorphous Fe80âxDyxB20 alloys have been prepared by melt spinning and their magnetic properties have been studied. The mean field theory has been used to explain the temperature dependence of the magnetization. The exchange interactions between Co-Co and Dy-Co atom pairs have been evaluated. High-field magnetization studies on samples with stoichiometry close to that of a compensated ferrimagnet show a magnetic behavior that is characteristic of a non-collinear magnetic structure of the Dy and Fe sublattices. The region of the canted moments can be described by a phase diagram in the H-T plane.
