Abstract
In this work, microstructural development in high purity iron based weld metals produced by a technique called “synthetic weld metal” is presented. Results indicate that higher Ti percentages (>0.08Â wt.%) also yields acicular like structures in Fe. Ti additions to Fe-C-Mn and Fe-Mn alloys influences grain substructure formation; the gradual removal of C and Mn shows the role of Ti in modifying the development of overall microstructure of weld metal.
