Abstract
In order to study the applicability of SrY2O4 to thermal barrier coating (TBC) materials, the thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of SrY2O4 were evaluated. A polycrystalline sintered SrY2O4 was prepared by solid-state reactions of SrCO3 and Y2O3 at 1273Â K, followed by spark plasma sintering at 1773Â K. The thermal expansion coefficient was measured by using a high temperature X-ray diffraction analysis. The thermal diffusivity was measured by a laser flush method and the thermal conductivity was evaluated. The thermal conductivity of SrY2O4 is 7.4Â WÂ mâ1Â Kâ1 at room temperature.
