Abstract
A new phase with UGa2 composition was synthesized by arc melting. Its crystal structure was solved from powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction data and refined to a residual value of R = 0.058, RW = 0.154 (S = 1.076). This phase crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pu3Pd5-type structure (a = 9.257(1) Ã
, b = 7.439(1) Ã
 and c = 9.359(1) Ã
, space group Cmcm), with uranium and gallium sharing one 4c position.
