Abstract
The europium doped SrIn2O4 phases have been prepared by solid state reaction. Their IR and Raman, luminescence, excitation spectra have been measured. It was found that Eu ions occupy both strontium and indium positions of the SrIn2O4 unit cell leading to the blue broad band luminescence centered at 480Â nm and the sharp f-f transitions associated with Eu2+ and Eu3+ ions, respectively. Moreover following the luminescence spectra it was concluded that Eu3+ occupy two different sites.
