Abstract
This review article is intended to show feasibility of solution combustion process for the synthesis of rare-earth activated insulating materials at low temperature (350-500 °C) and in a very short time (<5 min). Thus, this review starts with combustion synthesis followed by luminescent properties of combustion synthesized tricolour lamp phosphors. Major focuses in red phosphors are effect of calcinations and of impurities on luminescence of Eu3+ activated red phosphors. In the Eu2+ activated blue phosphor section, effect of activator concentration (Eu2+) and concentration of BaO in BaO·6Al2O3 are studied. In the case of green phosphors, co-doping of Eu2+, Ce3+ and Tb3+ in LaMgAl11O19 is investigated.
