Abstract
In situ synthesized TiB2/Ni multiphase metal-ceramics composite coating has been fabricated on medium carbon steel surface by laser cladding. Results of microstructure studies on the coating show that the composite coating is mainly composed of γ-(Ni, Fe) and (Fe, C) solid solution dendrite and eutectic structure of TiB2/γ-(Ni, Fe) or TiB2/(Fe, C) distributing in intergranular. A small amount of TiB and Ni4B3 hardy phase appears in intergranular too. The quantity of reinforcement ceramic phase varies with the chemical composition of the coating. Mechanical property of the coating increases prominently compared with the substrate.
