Abstract
[(CH3)3NH]HgBrCl2 (TrHgBrCl2) has been studied by means of X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, dielectric relaxation and ac conductivity. DSC and thermal evolution of the dielectric constant show a phase transition at 338 K which is ferroelectric-paraelectric type. The frequency dependent conductivity is interpreted in term of Jonscher's law: σ(ω) = σdc + Aωn. The temperature dependence of the low frequency limit of the bulk ac conductivity σdc is well described by the Arrhenius equation: σdcT= B exp(−Eg/kT).
