Abstract
A model based on the calculation of conditional probabilities has been used to gain further insight into the energetics of liquid Ag-Au, Cd-Pb, and Ga-Zn alloys. The model used enables us to explain the observed characteristic feature of these alloys. Thus, we note that Cd-Pb, and Ga-Zn are segregating liquid alloys while Ag-Au exhibits a significant tendency for compound formation. Also, the degree of segregation in Cd-Pb is larger than that in Ga-Zn.
