Abstract

Knowledge is an important intangible asset to an organisation. It may contribute to the organisation long term success. The intention of this study is to find the causative factor that may affect the knowledge sharing behaviour in the organisation, specifically in oil and gas organisation in Malaysia. Thus for that, this study has come up with the factor on social media usage and perceived team-efficacy. In just one decade, social media have become extremely popular among the citizens today. It has revolutionized the life of many people and attracted much attention. The knowledge sharing can be enhanced if team members believe in their collaboration capability to effectively execute their teamwork. Thus this study investigates whether social media usage and perceived team may encourage people to share their knowledge or otherwise. As a result from this study, it has proven that there is a positive relationship between social media usage and knowledge sharing behaviour. While on the other hand, the perceived team-efficacy do not have the significant contribution to knowledge sharing behaviour.
