Abstract
CdS thin films are successfully deposited from aqueous solutions by photochemical reactions. CdS thin films are deposited on a glass substrate only in the UV illuminated region by heterogeneous nucleation. Ultrasonic vibrations are used to stir the solution because ultrasonic waves can drive chemical reactions such as oxidation, reduction and decomposition. The nature of the as-deposited and annealed CdS thin films was studied using XRD, Hall measurements and AES. The surface morphology of the film has been studied using a scanning electron microscope. AES and SEM analysis on as-deposited CdS thin film showed that the surface contains less impurity and change in morphology under the influence of ultrosonic vibrations.
