Abstract
Ti-B-based coatings deposited by plasma immersion ion implantation were tested for their friction and wear behaviour at temperatures between 23 and 500 °C. In that range of temperature and under the fretting test conditions selected, PIII Ti-B-based coatings showed low friction at 500 °C. XRD, SEM, and Raman analyses were carried out on the native surfaces and in the fretting wear tracks. Based on these results, the friction and wear mechanism for these coatings at different test temperature are discussed.
