Our aim in this paper is to provide an exhaustive explanation of what economic inequality is and the extent of its influence among the social, economic, demographic, politic and cultural fields. While there are many scientific papers and research initiatives analysing the social costs of economic inequalities, our research focuses on the mechanisms through which economic inequality affects business activities, particularly the European business environment and to formulate recommendations for managers in order to deal with the challenges and tackle down disparities. By creating a comparative analysis at the EU level with the statistical data available, we tried to illustrate that the countries with high wealth discrepancies, report flaws also in their business performance indicators.
