Abstract
The energy straggling of 3He, 4He, 6Li, 7Li, 10B, and 11B ions with MeV energies in Al and Ag have been measured using the 3Â MV tandem accelerator. The experiment were performed by using a self-support transmission method with a partially-coated detector. Our results show that the experimental data are considerable discrepancy as compared with the Bohr's values for the Al target at the energies investigated. The experimental measurements for the Al target expect for 3He and 4He ions appear an increasing trend with the ion energy in the lower energy region, but decreasing in the higher energy region. As for the Ag data, the measurements increase slightly with the ion energy increasing. The present results indicate that no significant isotope effect of the energy straggling is observed at all energies reported.
