Abstract
We measured the density of electrons, temperature of electrons and ion confinement time as a function of gas pressure and Bmin of a liquid He-free SC-ECR ion source (SHIVA) by the laser ablation technique. The confinement time was mainly affected by the gas pressure. The density and temperature increased with increasing the minimum strength of mirror magnetic field (Bmin).
