Abstract
The hyperfine splitting and magnetic moment of 208Pb ± 1 nuclei are investigated based on the mean field approximation to the relativistic effective field theory. The valence nucleon modifies the core by mixing the positive- and negative-energy Dirac wave functions of the core. The effect of this mixing to the Dirac part of the electromagnetic current is taken into account using the linear response theory with the Ï- and Ï-meson exchanges. Then the effect of other meson-exchanges and other many-body effects are calculated perturbationally by 2p-1h (1p-2h) configuration mixing. The results are compared with observed data and results of nonrelativistic models.
