Abstract
For Tb and Ta we have performed multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock calculations with the inclusion of the transverse (Breit) interaction and QED corrections, obtaining the positions and intensities of various electric dipole, electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole K X-ray diagram lines and of their KL1 satellites. We have analyzed the effect of additional L-shell ionization on the structure and shapes of Tb and Ta K X-ray spectra on the basis of theoretically constructed stick and synthesized spectra. By comparing the theoretical spectra of Tb and Ta we have found that generally the structure and shapes of particular satellite line groups are similar for the two elements but in the case of Ta the shapes seem to be smoother than for Tb. Our study can be helpful in reliable quantitative interpretation of the K X-ray spectra of heavy elements induced during collisions with various light or heavy projectiles.
