Abstract
This paper reviews the performance of major international organizations that support coastal management projects and programs in Latin America and the Caribbean regions from 1992 to 2000 through a summary assessment based on personal interviews with senior officials of some of the key international donor organizations for the study regions, international aid specialized literature, and organizations' own documents. This paper analyzes the performance of donors in granting aid for coastal management projects, as well as the political implications of placing foreign assistance in these regions. Finally, this paper provides some recommendations for future international aid for coastal management.
