Abstract
A new flux system, CaO-Li2O-B2O3, has been applied to growing La2CaB10O19 single crystals. Transparent crystals of La2CaB10O19 with a typical size of 30Ã25Ã9 mm3 have been successfully grown from the new flux. The advantages of the new flux system, in terms of lower growth temperature and reduced incorporation of flux inclusions, are discussed in comparison with the previously utilized CaO·2B2O3 self-flux.
