Abstract
Er3+/Yb3+:Sr3Y(BO3)3crystal with dimension of φ20×30 mm3 has been grown by the Czochralski method. The absorption band at 980 nm has an absorption coefficient 11.7 cm−1 and FWHM of 11 nm. The emission band at 1450-1650 nm corresponding to 4I13/2→4I15/2 transition of Er3+ was observed under 977 nm exciting. The fluorescence lifetime of the upper 4I13/2 level of Er3+ in Er3+/Yb3+:Sr3Y(BO3)3 crystal was 700 μs at 300 K.
