Abstract
β-BaB2O4 (β-BBO) nanoparticles have been prepared via coprecipitation using different bases (ammonium hydrogon carbonate, dimethylamine and triethylamine) as precipitants. The precursors and the resulting nanoparticles were characterized by chemical analysis, IR, XRD and TEM. Triethylamine is found to be an optimal precipitant, where the precursor can crystallize into pure β-BBO nanoparticles after annealing at 700 °C for 3 h. TEM analysis reveals that average grain size is ca. 40 nm.
