Abstract
This paper presents the growth of co-doped PbWO4:(Sb,Y) crystal by modified Bridgman method and the influence of Sb and Y co-doping on luminescence and scintillation properties of PbWO4 crystal. Based on the results of measuring the optical transmission, X-ray excited luminescence, photoluminescence, thermoluminescence, light yield and decay time of PbWO4:(Sb,Y) crystal, it can been seen that at the concentration involved in the study the PbWO4:(Sb,Y) crystal has higher light yield and sharper optical absorption edge. The maximum light yield of 55Â p.e./MeV was obtained in co-doped PbWO4:(Sb,Y) crystal with bialkali photomultiplier for a fixed condition of the crystal size of 23Ã23Ã20Â mm3 and the gate width of 200Â ns. However, compared to pure PbWO4 crystal the co-doping of Sb and Y results in a relatively slower decay component.
