Abstract
Single crystals of p-terphenyl were grown using selective self-seeding vertical Bridgman technique (SSVBT). Powder X-ray diffraction studies were carried out and lattice parameters were calculated for the grown crystal. Microhardness studies on the grown crystal were carried out using Vickers microhardness tester to evaluate the mechanical hardness of the crystal. FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra were recorded to identify different vibrations of p-terphenyl molecule in the grown crystals. 1H NMR spectral analysis was carried out to check the purity of the material of the grown crystals. The fluorescence spectra were recorded and the results are discussed.
