Abstract
Structural and magnetic investigation of (Fe100âxCox)62 Nb8B30 (x=0, 33, 50) has been done using DSC, Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetic measurements. Variation of Co content in the alloy affects the stability of the alloy against crystallization as well as supercooled liquid region ranging between 68 and 102 °C. Addition of Co affects the disorder in the as-cast specimens whereas annealing reduces disorder in the specimens via structural relaxation. Co addition also stabilizes the spin texture in the specimen in such a way that it is less sensitive to thermal annealing. In as-cast state, higher Co content leads to the improvement of soft magnetic properties whereas thermal annealing further improves the magnetic properties via structural relaxation.
