Abstract
The relation between magnetic fields (B) of different strength and orientation superimposed during electrodeposition and the morphology of Co deposits has been investigated. Experiments concerning morphology, grain size and surface roughness were performed by AFM, SEM and TEM. A superimposed B has already an effect on the morphology and roughness of very thin layers. The roughness of Co layers is influenced by magnetic fields as well as by deposition potential. Holes in the cobalt deposits caused by hydrogen bubble formation during the electrodeposition are avoided, when a magnetic field is applied.
