Abstract
The dependence of magnetic properties on thermal fluctuation and relationship between magnetic cluster size and thermal decay are investigated. It is shown that the use of the thermal stability factor explains the thermal decay of a perpendicular magnetic recording medium well when the magnetic cluster volume in AC erased magnetization is regarded as the effective volume.
