Abstract
Sputter-deposited Fe thin films exhibited (1Â 0Â 0) preferential orientation when they were deposited at a lower deposition rate below 0.6Â Ã
/s. The (1 0 0)-oriented Fe layer attained at a lower deposition rate condition induced (1 0 0) orientation of Pt layers deposited on it. Fe(1 0 0)/Pt(1 0 0) thin bilayered films deposited directly on glass disk substrates, without any seed layers, exhibited FePt highly ordered FCT alloy phase with (0 0 1) preferential orientation after annealing at 600 °C in hydrogen atmosphere. Fe[3 nm]/Pt[3 nm] thin bilayered films exhibited squareness ratio and coercivity in perpendicular direction of 1.0 and 4.8 kOe, respectively, after the annealing process.
