Abstract
The relationships between writer pole material properties and pole erasure in perpendicular recording heads were investigated. As a result, it was clarified that the pole material properties such as internal stress, anisotropy field (Hk) and pole domain structure affect pole erasure occurrence. A writer pole material without pole erasure can be successfully prepared in a mono-layered pole film.
