Abstract
Bulk Ba6C60 fulleride has been prepared by solid-state reaction and spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. We report measurements of electrical resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity and Hall effect. The compound is metallic with high electron concentration and low mobility. The values of electrical resistivity and thermopower are also low, consistent with the Hall data. The lattice thermal conductivity for Ba6C60 fulleride at room temperature is estimated to be about 1.44 W/m K, close to the value of amorphous SiO2. This low value of lattice thermal conductivity is ascribed to strong resonance scatterings by C60 cluster vibrations.
